InnoScript 5.4 crashes when it is launched. Nothing is displayed; it goes straight to the crash. I uninstalled and re-installed, with no change. FYI. Will |

Aloha Will, Sorry for taking so long to respond. We have had an earthquake here and lost all electricity, but everything is fine now on this island. Please give me the version number of the file RSGenRtns.dll in your system folder. |

Earthquakes. I guess that's the cost of paradise. Hope all is well. 1.0.0.41. There's no rush on this. I had a few minutes earlier and used it to install 5.4. Will |

Check your innoscript.exe version. It should be working. |

Here's a screen shot of Dependency Walker. InnoScript is 5.4.0.0. |

Please delete the file RSGenRtns.dll and the innoscript.exe then re-download and re-install. Everything seems ok. Maybe a bad download. |

I just downloaded the zip file again. Windows XP reports that it is corrupt and will not open it. |

Okay, I have a clean download and a clean extraction (as far as I can tell). The program still crashes when I attempt to run it. I should add that yesterday I installed Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition. It's the only change I have made to this machine lately. I can't do anything else today but tomorrow I will try to install on a different PC. Will (Message edited by will_fastie on October 16, 2006) |

I have found nothing. The only thing I can think of is that you have an old copy of RSGenRtns.dll on your system and it is registered. The new version would not allow this type of failure (it was expected). Do a search of your system an let me know what you find. |

I just finished an installation of InnoScript on another PC. It's clean in the sense that neither IS nor VB has ever been installed on the PC before. InnoScript ran. I will poke around my laptop to see what's going on. Will |

RSGenRtns.dll does not exist anywhere on my laptop. Is there a possibility that there is still something left over in the Registry? Will |

No registry issues would cause that. |

Then I'm at a loss. IS 5.3 worked fine on this PC and 5.4 does not. I don't know where to look next. |

Erase the whole folder for InnoScript and re-install. I have re-installed over 5.3 and all is fine. Your system folder is not protected and you are loging in with administrator rights correct? Remove the innoScript.ini file and re-install. I will look into this Further. What's the date on your InnoScript archive file? |

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. You work through earthquakes and I'm just lazy. The archive has a creation date of 10/16 at 3:25:55 PM and a size of 3.85MB (4,042,432 bytes). The executable contained therein has a creation date of 10/15 at 1:53:58 PM and a size of 3.87MB (4,065,228 bytes). I removed the .ini file, cleared all traces of Innoscript away, and re-installed. I still crash. Will |

I will look into this further. So far I can not get it to crash. I will reinstall 5.3 and then 5.4. What revision of 5.3 did you have installed? |

I have uninstalled 5.4 and re-installed 5.3. I have over written the installation of 5.3 with 5.4 and all works normally. I will need more information about your system to determine the cause. You do have Admin rights correct? Does the registration screen come up at all? If so what is the info on the screen? (What is it asking for). |

See below. This is what I get every time, 100% repeatable. I never get anywhere near IS, never see its window.

We found the problem, One old file got into the install. Please download the updated release dated 10/27/2006 and re-install. This should solve the problem. |

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that IS 5.4 is now running. The bad news is that it will not accept my registration codes as delivered on 9/13/06. The email I received mentioned user name and organization. The registration panel asks for user name and email address. I used my email address. Should I have used the organization? |
